There is no truth. There is only perception.
— Gustave Flaubert

Elanor Jazz is a sculptor based in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Nova Scotia, whose ephemeral metal sculptures reveal an unexpected softness beneath the surface of rigidity.

Through her work, metal transforms from solid structure to a symbol of fluidity, reflecting the malleable nature of urban life. She spent time learning about art & design at the Bauhaus Universitat then oursued her formal fine arts studies at the Nova Scotia College of art & Design majoring in sculpture where she was also an active community member through her time as vice president internal at the school’s student union where she sat at different committees like President’s “Envisioning Our Future” committee where she offered a student perspective on the school’s future plans.

Under this light, her engagement to public art can be understood. The city of Halifax captured her heart and she decided to call it home, so se can continually contribute to the city’s urban & suburban scene sculpturally, and collaboratively. Jazz’s sculpture “Metalworker” was acquired by the President of NSCAD for the NSCAD President’s Student Art Collection in 2024 which is currently on public display at the NSCAD Fountain campus.

She also appeared on the Art Pays Me podcast in 2023 as an interview for her contribution to the Arte & Movement exhibition curated by Duane Jones at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.

As a sculptor, she looks forward to the Downtown Dartmouth Ice Festival where she puts her snow outfit on and gets ready for a long outdoors ice sculpting session that usually lasts up to 8 hours, creating Phone-Ship (2024) & Fireplace (2025) completely out of ice blocks shipped from Montreal, CA with the generosity of the Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission and other partners.
